Frequently Asked Questions

It’s not difficult to transfer your domain name to Crazy Runt. You’ll complete some steps with your current registrar, and some steps with Crazy Runt.

Required: In order to manage your DNS zone files and nameservers at Crazy Runt during and after the transfer period, you must add DNS Hosting to your domain prior to beginning the transfer process. If you choose not to add DNS Hosting, you’ll need to copy all of the domain’s DNS zone files and nameservers from your current registrar before the transfer begins, and then wait until your transfer to Crazy Runt is complete to manually update each of these files.

Note: You’re not eligible to transfer a domain for a 60-day period after the following events:

? Registering or transferring a domain name
? Updating the registrant contact’s organization
? Updating the registrant contact’s first or last name and an organization is not listed

Complete the following steps with your current registrar:

  1. Unlock the domain name.
  2. Get an authorization code (also known as an EPP code or transfer key) from your current registrar.
  3. Verify contact information: Confirm that the administrator’s contact information for the domain is correct. All emails regarding the transfer will go to the administrator’s email.

Note: For .au domains, all transfer information is sent to the registrant contact’s email.

  4. Cancel Protected or Private registration: If the domain has Protected Registration or Private Registration, you’ll need to cancel it.

Complete the following steps at Crazy Runt:

  1. Purchase a domain name transfer from our website. We will send you a message if the extension is not available to transfer.

Note: If you purchased a .uk .ca, .eu, .es, .au, or .se domain name transfer, see their respective About articles for additional transfer instructions.

  2. Once you purchase the transfer, you’ll be prompted to Unlock the domain and Get authorization code. Enter the authorization code in the space provided and follow the prompts to check-out.
  3. Check your email: Once you’re finished with your purchase, check the domain name’s administrative contact (admin) email (or registrant contact’s email for .au domains) for an email from Crazy Runt. To authorize your transfer, simply click on the Approve button that appears in the email. That’s it!

Note: The transfer process can take 7 to 10 days to complete.

2 Refund requirements

For details on refunds, please visit Crazy Runt’s Refund Policy page.

Most domains will follow the Standard Terms, but certain domains will have exceptions or may not be refundable at all. Look under BOTH of the following categories:

Registry NIC BR /Registro.br

Details

1 Registrations restrictions

Note: You must have a Brazilian Tax ID (CNPJ / CPF) to register a .br domain.

Note: It can take up to 5 days for .br domains to be registered.

Important information for Brazilian residents who already own a .br domain (.com.br, .net.br, etc.)

The Brazilian registry assigns the registrar of the first .com.br or .net.br domain you purchased as your default registrar (they associate your CNPJ/CPF ID with that registrar). Hence, it expects subsequent domain registrations to also come from the same registrar.

Given this constraint, you can choose to associate your CNPJ/CPF ID with Crazy Runt, and then continue with your purchase.

2 Renewal restrictions

Your .br domain name renews before its expiration date. The renewal date depends on whether you set the domain name to auto-renew or manually renew. We attempt auto-renewal on day one of the month prior to the domain name’s expiration date. If the renewal attempt fails, we re-attempt renewal 10 days later. If that attempt fails, we make a final attempt 10 days later.

For example: Your .com.br domain name expires on October 10. If your domain name does not renew automatically, you can renew it manually by September 20. For automatic renewals, we attempt to renew the domain name on September 1, September 10, and September 20.

If we cannot auto-renew the domain name and you do not manually renew it by the 20th of the month prior to the expiration date, you can attempt to recover it, and there might be a fee to do so. See Recovering expired domain names for information.

3 Nameserver requirements

All .br domain names must have two authoritative nameservers. Before you register or modify the domain name, you must list only those nameservers in its zone file.

If you want to register a .br domain name with us and use our nameservers, we handle this process for you.

If you want to use your own nameservers, you must set them up before you register or modify the domain name. You must also ensure that they are resolving properly before you assign them to the domain name in our system.

Note: To check to see that your DNS zone files are set up properly on the server before attempting to change NS, use the .br registry nameserver check tool. If they are not set up properly, your nameserver change will fail and revert to the previous valid pair. Google can help you translate responses if needed.

For example, if you want to register coolexample.com.br and use the nameservers ns1.coolexample.br and ns2.coolexample.br, then you must list those nameservers in the domain name’s zone file.

After you set up your nameservers and register your domain name, use the instructions in Change nameservers for my domains to set the nameservers in our system.

4 Contact update requirements

You will have the ability to update the admin, tech, and billing contact of your domain name.

Note: If you have already created an account at the Registry, the contact associated with your CNPJ/CPF (called the BR ORG contact) can only be updated at the Registry website. You should not update the Billing contact information as this will transfer the domain name to the Registry and you won’t be able to manage it through your GoDaddy account. 1API GmbH (aka Hexonet) is the partner we use in order to offer .DK domains. If you have accidentally transferred the domain away, please contact our customer support for further assistance.

For updates to the following fields, contact our support department for assistance:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Organization (company name)
  • Country

You can update all other contact information in the Domain Manager. See Change domain contact information for information.

6 Expiration/redemption

If we cannot auto-renew the domain name and you do not manually renew it by the 20th of the month prior to the expiration date, you can attempt to recover it, and there might be a fee to do so. See Recovering expired domain names for information.

Details

1 Renewal restrictions

Your .am domain name renews before its expiration date. The renewal date depends on whether you set the domain name to auto-renew or renew manually. We attempt auto-renewal on the first day of the month prior to the domain name’s expiration date. If the renewal attempt fails, we re-attempt renewal on the 10th of the month and again on the 20th of the month.

For example: Your .am domain name expires on October 10.

See Recovering expired domain names for more information.

2 Account change restrictions

When you move the domain name, the registrant’s first name, last name, and organization (company name) cannot change.

3 Contact updates restrictions

AMNic charges a fee to update the registrant’s name or organization. A change of registrant is called a trade. To update the following registrant contact fields for your .am domain name, contact our support team:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Organization (company name)

In the Domain Manager, you can update all other contact information. See Change domain contact information for more information.

4 Refund policy

For details on refunds, please visit Crazy Runt’s Refund Policy page.

Most domains will follow the Standard Terms, but certain domains will have exceptions or may not be refundable at all. Look under BOTH of the following categories:

  • Products with Special Refund Terms (look under Domain Name Registrations/Renewals)
  • Products Not Eligible for Refunds

Note: We’ve disabled .tc and .vg new registrations and transfers to us until further notice. We’ll turn these services back on when we resolve our registry partner issues. Renewals and transfers away are unaffected.

Some countries or geographical regions, such as .us (United States) and .me (Montenegro), sponsor country-code top-level domain names (ccTLDs). These two-letter domain name extensions have special rules and requirements. For example, they vary widely in their registration lengths and criteria, automatic renewal dates, domain name contact changes, and even transfer procedures.

Read the respective Help article for a ccTLD extension prior to purchasing it, renewing it, backordering it, transferring it, bidding on it, changing your contact information for it, or changing its nameservers.

For more information about ccTLDs, see this article about domain name registries around the world.

An account change occurs when an account owner moves a domain from one account with Crazy Runt (the initiating account) to another (the receiving account). You need to have an account with us to complete the account change and accept the domain name, and the domain name cannot be expired.

When an account owner initiates an account change in his/her account, we email information about accepting the account change to the receiving account’s owner. The email message might contain a transaction ID and security code (if applicable).

Note: Account changes expire after 10 days. However, the initiating account’s owner can re-initiate it. For more information, see Move a domain to another Crazy Runt account.

    1. Log in to your My Products page.
    2. If you aren’t automatically directed there, make sure to select the My Products tab:

My products tab

    1. Click Manage All:

Manage All

  1. From the Domains menu in the upper left, click Pending Account Changes:
  2. Click Incoming Account Changes and complete one of the following:
    • If the domain name displays in the list ? Select the domain name, and then click Accept.
    • If the domain name does not display in the list ? Click Accept Emailed Changes, enter the following, click Next, and then proceed through checkout of the free transaction:
      • Transaction ID ? The identification code from the email we sent you.
      • Security Code ? The security code from the email we sent you.

Note: It may take a few minutes for your domain name to appear in your account.

  3. To view the domain, hover over the Domains tab and click All Domains.
    • If the status of the domain is active, you are done with the account change and are free to use the domain.
    • If the status of the domain is pending update, you will need to complete one additional step to activate the domain: Please check the email address used for the domain’s Registrant contact on the Whois (this is likely the same email you use for your Crazy Runt account, or the one you provided to the person moving the domain name to you). Crazy Runt will send you an email with the subject: Please approve your contact info update. Simply click the link in this email to approve the account change.

Note: After the account change is complete, the domain(s) will not be able to be transferred or moved for 10 days.

If you want to move a domain name from one account with us to another, you’re in the right place to get started – it’s called an Account Change. If you need to move a domain name to a different registrar, see Transfer domain to another registrar.

Required: If you’ve just added Protected Registration and enabled two-step verification on your account, you must wait 72 hours AND cancel Protected Registration before moving your domain to another Crazy Runt account.
    1. Log into your My Products page.
    2. If you aren’t automatically directed there, make sure to select the My Products tab.
    3. Next to the domain you want to use, click Manage.
    4. On the Domains Settings page, below Additional Settings, click Transfer domain to another Crazy Runt account.
    5. In the Begin Account Change window, enter and re-enter the Email address of the recipient.
    6. If you know the recipient’s customer number, select I have… and then enter the account login information. The email address entered must be the same email used for the shopper account contact email, not the domain administrator email.

Note: If you don’t know the new registrant’s login information, leave this field blank, and then select Enter new details.

  1. In Domain’s contact information, select one of the following:

Note: The new registrant’s Customer # or login name might be required or optional depending on what you select here. For Enter new details, it’s optional. For all other options, it’s required. If entered, the value must match information on file in the receiving account.

    • Enter new details ? Enter contact information for the new registrant.
    • Use details from specified customer account ? Use contact information from the account you entered in step 6. (This won’t work until the specified customer has setup their settings page to include all necessary information.)
    • Do not change ? Retain the contact information currently assigned to the domain name you’re moving. Selecting Do Not Change will not prompt the ICANN Change of Registrant email to be sent for either party, gaining or losing.

Note: If moving a country-code top-level domain name (ccTLD), you might have to select this option and have the new registrant contact our support department to update the contact information. While contact information is updating, the domain will show a status of Pending Update, and the change of account will not proceed until the change is complete. For more information, see About ccTLDs (Country-Code Domain Names).

  2. Select Keep the current nameservers for this domain to retain the current nameservers for the domain name. If you don’t select this option, we park the domain name when the new registrant activates it in the new account.

Note: Any nameserver change will bring a live site down. Additionally, the domain name loses any custom DNS when it moves to the new account.

  3. Click Next.
  4. If you selected Enter new details, complete the following, and then click Next:
    • Organization (Optional) ? The organization with which the new registrant is affiliated, if any
    • I certify that the specified organization… (Optional) ? Indicates you agree that the organization will be the legal registrant
    • First name and Last name ? The new registrant’s first and last name
    • Address 1 and 2 ? The new registrant’s street address
    • Country ? The country in which the new registrant resides
    • City, State, Postal Code ? The new registrant’s city, state, and ZIP code
    • Phone ? The new registrant’s phone number
    • Fax (Optional) ? The new registrant’s fax number

Note: We display a list of the services that we’ll cancel after you move the domain name from your account. You can’t reverse a cancellation after you agree to the move. There will be a 10-day transfer lock after the domain is moved into a new account.

  5. Read the Domain Name Change of Registrant Agreement, and, if you agree to the terms, select I have read and agree to the Domain Name Change….

Note: When you change the Organization or the First name or the Last name (in the absence of an Organization entry), you must agree to a 60-day lockdown to continue. If you have a .au domain name, a 60-day lock will not apply.

  6. If you want to transfer your domain name during the 60-day period, decline the Change of Registrant and transfer your domain name before updating the Organization, First name, or Last name fields. Otherwise, select I understand that, if I want to transfer this domain….
  7. Click Finish. If you selected Do Not Change in step 7 above, you are finished and the gaining customer will need to accept your domain account changes. If you selected Enter New Details, or Use details from specified customer account, please see the note below.

Note: If you selected either Enter new details or Use details from specified customer account in step 7 above, you must click on the link contained in an email sent by Crazy Runt to the email address on the Registrant WHOIS contact for the domain(s) you are moving. If you do not click this link (which affirms the change of Registrant information for the change of account), the domain name will not move out of your account and will remain in a pending update status.

Once the email link affirming the change of registrant is clicked, the domain will move to the gaining customer?s account and they will be able to accept the domain name.

If you are moving a domain that has privacy enabled, the privacy will be removed in the process and you will need to purchase it again once the move is complete.

The process for transferring a domain name registered with Crazy Runt to another registrar is not hard, but it does take time. You’ll complete some steps with Crazy Runt and some steps with the new registrar. The total process can take up to 10 days to complete.

If you want to move a domain name from one Crazy Runt account to another Crazy Runt account, see Move a domain to another Crazy Runt account.

Note: You’re not eligible to transfer a domain for a 60-day period after the following events:

? Registering or transferring a domain name
? Updating the registrant contact’s organization
? Updating the registrant contact’s first or last name and an organization is not listed

You’re not eligible to transfer a domain for a 10-day period after changing your domain from one Crazy Runt account to another via the Account Change Process.

For more information, see ICANN’s Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy and our Domain Name Change of Registrant Agreement.

To Transfer Domain Names to Another Registrar

Complete the following steps with Crazy Runt

Required: If you’ve just enabled two-step verification on your account, you must wait 72 hours before transferring your domain to another registrar.
  • Verify contact information: Verify that the administrator’s contact information for the domain is correct (or registrant’s email for .au domains). All emails regarding the transfer will go to the administrator’s email (or registrant’s email for .au domains). To review and edit your contact information, see Change domain contact information.
  • Unlock your domain
  • Cancel Protected or Private registration: If the domain has Protected Registration or Private Registration, you’ll need to cancel it. For more information, see Cancel Protected Registration or Cancel Private Registration.

Complete the following steps with your new registrar

  1. Get an authorization code: Check with your new registrar to see if you need an authorization code (EPP code). If you need one, see Get an authorization code to transfer my domain to another registrar.

Note: Many country-code top-level domain names (ccTLDs) don’t require an authorization code. However, there are a few exceptions where you’ll need to contact customer support to get an authorization code. For more information, see Authorization codes to transfer ccTLDs

For .uk domain transfers, please contact customer support and have the IPS tag of the new registrar (get this from your new registrar) ready when you call.

  2. Initiate the transfer: At the new registrar, initiate the transfer and provide the authorization code, if needed. This is different for each registrar, so you may need to consult the other registrar’s help or support for specific instructions.

Check the domain’s administator’s email

  1. Accept or deny the transfer: Crazy Runt will email you instructions to complete the transfer. If you do not accept or deny the transfer request within five days, Crazy Runt will automatically accept the transfer for you. For more information, see Accept or decline a transfer to another registrar.
  2. Receive confirmation: Crazy Runt will email you confirmation when the transfer is complete.

We keep your domains locked to keep them secure. Locked domains can’t be transferred to another registrar or account. When you make changes to a domain’s settings, such as updating nameservers or contact information, we automatically unlock and re-lock the domain name. To transfer your domain name, however, you must unlock it.

  1. Log in to your My Products page.
  2. If you aren’t automatically directed there, make sure to select the My Products tab.
  3. Next to the domain you want to use, click Manage.
  4. On the Domain Settings page, under Additional Settings, click the Edit link next to Domain lock.
  5. Click the toggle to Off.

Note: Allow up to 1 hour for changes to complete.

  1. Go to our Home Page.
  2. In the Domain Name Search field, enter the domain name you want to register, and then select the domain name extension from the list.
  3. Click GO.

If the domain name you requested is already registered, we provide available alternatives. For example, you might be able to select a .info or .ws domain extension, rather than .com. Or you could register www.coolexample.info instead of www.coolexample.com.

If the domain name is available, follow the instructions to complete the checkout process. Be sure to include valid contact information for each contact. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the governing body for domain names, requires valid contact information (registrant, technical, billing, and administrative). If you enter false information, your domain name can be canceled.

Your contact information is public and accessible through the Whois database at most registrars. However, you can protect your privacy by registering your domain name with us using our private domain name registration services.

When you purchase private domain name registration, the Whois database lists the name of our privacy affiliate company, as well as their postal address and phone number ? instead of your personal contact information.

Registering a domain name builds your credibility on the Internet. Use domain names to support your business and assist in creating a dynamic online presence. Your domain name establishes your online identity and increases branding, marketing and communication opportunities. Register multiple domain names to:

  • Keep your competition from registering a domain name that draws customers away from you.
  • Promote the products and services you offer.
  • Drive more traffic to your website.
  • Enjoy more opportunities to market to ? and be listed on ? search engines.
  • Create distinct advertising strategies to reach different target markets.
  • Provide customers more ways to find you on the Internet.
  • Capture common misspellings of your domain name, instead of sending visitors to an error page.
  • Protect your brand and online identity from unsavory parties.

To get started, check to see if the domain name you want is available. If available, register the domain name for a period of time you specify during the checkout process.

Simply go to the ‘Add Business’ page, past/type your Facebook page URL into the import option and click Submit.
